The speculation about the recent awards show was significant, especially after host Geoff Keighley posted an enigmatic image of a desert monolith. The secret has been revealed. Larian Studios is developing a completely new Divinity game.
Titled simply Divinity, the game was showcased with a bold trailer packed with intense imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to an orgy and the very opening of infernal gates.
A Different Direction
For those expecting Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. Larian warned that a direct sequel to its beloved RPGs is not on the cards right now.
However, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a continuation of the main series. This phrasing suggests that the team could be crafting a real-time experience as opposed to another turn-based title. For now, we can only guess, as only a teaser video is available.
The Legacy of Divinity
The Divinity series is highly rated and many say it sparked the contemporary revival of deep computer role-playing games. These games are celebrated for detailed worlds, player agency, and flexible progression—traits that subsequently found massive success in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its setting is classic fantasy, what truly sets Divinity apart is the unprecedented level of trust bestowed upon the player.
While numerous modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is brimming with unique possibilities you can achieve with a distinct build with a unique decision path.
The series is also wonderfully flexible, letting players to find creative solutions both in story and combat. Most missions can be completed in diverse methods, frequently in unexpected fashion.
- You might progress the story because you heeded something a dog told you.
- Or, you could defeat a foe by using the world itself in a unorthodox way.
A New Chapter Begins
It is these creative systems that lead fans and critics to hail games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as among the greatest role-playing games ever made. Now, players can get ready for another adventure in this esteemed franchise.
